National Pi Day is a fitting opportunity at ATL to celebrate the principles that guide the engineering profession every day: precision, problem-solving, and the power of collaboration. While π (pi) is best known as the mathematical constant representing the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, it has also become a symbol of the analytical thinking and curiosity that drive the scientific community to continually explore, measure, and improve the world around us.

Because ATL’s work is rooted in technical expertise and data-driven analysis, Pi Day naturally aligns with the spirit of what we do. From evaluating soil conditions and testing construction materials to assessing environmental impacts, our teams rely on technical calculations, proven methodologies, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to support safe, efficient, and successful projects.

To mark the occasion, ATL is hosting a special Pi Day Lunch & Learn led by our Directors of Services — Steve Moore, PE; Brian Barnes, PE; and Cheyenne Dashnaw, PE. The seminar will highlight several of ATL’s core service areas, including Geotechnical Engineering, Materials Testing, and Environmental Services, and explore how these disciplines work together throughout the lifecycle of a project.

This Lunch & Learn provides an opportunity for ATL’s internal staff to come together to celebrate Pi Day while continuing to strengthen the technical knowledge that supports our work. By sharing insights across departments, the session encourages collaboration and highlights the importance of understanding how different engineering disciplines intersect on real-world projects.

Just as π continues infinitely, engineering ideas often circulate across specialties, creating connections that lead to stronger outcomes. Celebrating Pi Day through learning and collaboration reflects ATL’s commitment to professional growth, knowledge sharing, and the curiosity that keeps great engineering ideas moving forward.

Organizations interested in having ATL provide a Lunch & Learn session for their team are encouraged to reach out.
