New Year’s Eve is one of the most widely celebrated and festive nights of the year. As we gather with friends and family to enjoy ushering in the new year let’s make sure that we are keeping in mind what is most important, getting to 2026 safe and in good health.
Due to the celebratory nature of the holiday, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day typically see a sharp increase in alcohol-related injuries and fatalities. If you plan to drink, please make sure that you rely on a designated driver, rideshare services, or public transportation to get around.
If you are hosting a get-together, please keep in mind that food preparation, candles, decorative lights, and crowded spaces can increase the chances of your home becoming a fire hazard. Keep all pathways to exits clear and have a fire extinguisher on hand just in case.
Outdoor temperatures on New Year’s could likely be well below freezing. Make sure that you are dressed appropriately for any time that will be spent outside. Keep an eye on the weather as well. Winter weather has the potential to delay travel and create dangerous road conditions.
Ringing in the new year with family and friends marks a joyous time of reflection and fresh beginnings, but as we raise a glass to 2026 please make sure to keep safety top of mind. Cheers!
