New York State established new mold regulations effective January 1, 2016.
Article 32 of the New York State Labor Law requires certification for mold assessment and remediation specialists. Criteria for mold assessments include the inspection or assessment for mold and conditions that facilitate mold, preparation of a mold remediation plan, and post-remediation assessment and clearance.
To address the new New York State regulations, ATL recently had a dozen current employees, who have past mold investigation and consulting experience, obtain the required “Mold Assessor” certification. The four, day-long course encompassed topics ranging from visual inspections and sampling methodologies and strategies, to technical and legal considerations.
