Tappan Zee Bridge 2013

After nearly 7 years, ATL is nearing completion of our work on the construction of the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge (formerly Tappan Zee Bridge).  ATL began providing quality assurance testing and inspection services in September 2013.  ATL was fortunate to have two staff members (a PM on-site and a Sr. Engineer/Project Manager in the office) that were on the project from start to finish, along with dozens of others that provided field, plant, and laboratory services.  Our services included material prequalification; concrete mix design verification; precast concrete inspection; batch plant inspection; field testing of concrete, soil, and hot-mix asphalt; and laboratory testing of soils (nearly 2000 proctors and over 8000 gradations), concrete (over 40,000 cylinders), aggregates, and test method, NT Build 492, a European test for chloride ion permeability.  ATL provided a fully equipped AASHTO accredited laboratory with certified staff near the project site.

This was a major project for ATL and one that we take a lot of pride in being a part of.  It is one of those projects that stories will be told about for years to come and one that we showcase often.  It was a job well done by the ATL team!  Contact us for assistance on your next project, whether it be large, small, or somewhere in between.
